5 Pounds and 5 Inches

Most people would post this and say they lost 5lbs and 5 inches in a month but that doesn't happen when your pregnant! This is me at 26 weeks. My new midwife has been cracking the whip to make sure this pregnancy goes a little differently then the last. She's told me to work out at least 4 times a week and wanted me to only gain 4lbs last month. So I think I did pretty good with 5! She also measured my belly as having grown 5 inches. I'm starting to feel much larger.
I'm now at 28 weeks and this baby is such a kicker. I only remember Kelsie stretching a lot. Ahh pregnancy. Not my favorite time of life.

Sledding

We took Kelsie sledding the other day to a hill in Bountiful. Last Winter, she cried the whole time. The first time down she cried and cried and cried.  She didn't want to go down again but I told her that Dad would protect her and that we could tell Grandma all about it. She finally agreed to go again and of course loved it.
Would she go down with Mom? Nope. But every time I put her on Chad's lap she would say "Dad will protect me!" Yes he will.

Crafts

I made this crayon and coloring book tote for Kelsie. She takes it to church and calls it her purse. It was actually a really easy tutorial. I haven't done any sewing for a while so it was fun to do a project. Next time I will make the crayon pockets just a little bit large. For these crayons, they were just barely too tight. When they were all in they tugged that side of the tote in.

You can see the tugging in this photo. It sort of bends toward the middle.
I just got called to Beehive Advisor in my ward so I made these rick rack rosette rings and chocolate strawberries for my beehives. It was their Valentine's Day present. I hand sewed instead of hot gluing because I thought they would hold up better.

Pregnancy Update

We had an exciting day yesterday! We were able to find out what we are having. For months, we've been asking Kelsie what the baby is and all she'll say is "Baby". Even after we found out and told her she would say "No! It's a baby!" Haha. So we are having a buuuhhhh.........GIRL! Chad was hoping for a boy so he was kind of bummed. He is again outnumbered. The baby looks healthy and is measuring a little big. I'm 19 weeks 3 days and she was measuring 20 weeks. Please don't be a 10 pounder. Please don't be a 10 pounder.
This pregnancy has been pretty similar to Kelsie's. The nausea has pretty much gone away. It started getting better around 16 weeks. I have not gained as much weight this time around and I think it's mostly due to the fact that I cook dinners more often and I'm working out still. Plus I don't work at the hospital anymore where everyone always brought treats. I have to do 2 gestational diabetes test because that's the new standard if you have a baby over 10lbs. I did my first one yesterday as well. Hopefully, I don't have it and it doesn't mean I have to do two tests every pregnancy. Yucky.
I switched to a Certified Nurse Midwife a couple weeks ago. It's kind of amazing to me the misconceptions people have of midwives. Since I've told people this, I have had such strange looks. I'm not sure why there is so much negativity about them. People have asked me if I'm having my baby at home, if I'm going unmedicated, and why I would want to.  First of all, no. I'm not having my baby at home. Are there midwives that deliver at home? Yes. But not all. More deliver in hospitals and birth centers. Second, you can still have an epidural with a midwife if you are delivering at a hospital. You have all the conveniences of modern medicine just a different person catching your baby. And lastly I wanted one because I think she will be more helpful than nurses and doctors during delivery. If I decide to not have an epidural again she can help me with different techniques in labor. She will be there as little or as much as I want and I don't have to worry about waiting around for the doc to get in there at the last second. Not that I had to with Kels. My doc was great and so were my nurses. I just wanted more.
I already like her more than my doc. She asks me questions my doc never asked and I did not feel rushed in and out of the exam room.

I forgot to show these.....

Here are some pics of Kels before and after our New Orleans trip. It will show you what we picked up there for her.
Trying to hitch a ride.
Showing off her presents.

Christmas 2011

As mentioned before I'm somewhat behind in posting. There are still things from the summer that I never posted about so whatever. Here's some Christmas pics. Can't get the videos to load. Don't be jealous of my red robe. I know it can inspire such feelings.

Kelsie got some Zhu Zhu Pets from Grandma and Grandpa Nelson. Santa sent her blocks, coloring books, crayons, Minnie Mouse underwear (I guess he is hoping too. No such luck yet, Santa), play dough, and puzzles. Grandma Brown got her a subscription to kids National Geographic.
Later Christmas morning, we left to Grandma Brown's house to eat the traditional Christmas Casserole. Yummy. Did not disappoint per usual. We missed going to AZ to see the Nelson's this year. I think we may have to make the drive next Christmas.

Kelsie's B-Day Party November 2011

Oops. So I guess I'm a horrible blogger. I noticed recently, after looking at my pics, that I hadn't blogged about Kelsie's birthday. What a disgraceful thing to forget:)

She had a combined party with her cousin Mary who is 12 days older. The Allen's, The Brown's minus Seth, my Mom and the Carlson's were able to come. The Carlson's brought an awesome gift for Kels. It's a little orange slide from their backyard that Kelsie loves every time we go over there. It has saved me in the last few months of cold weather and nausea.
We ate dinner and Jami made some gluten free dairy free cupcakes. Not too bad. Very rich. Kelsie kept taking more and more off the plate and tried to eat all the frosting.
As a 2 year old, Kelsie is crazy! She is so stubborn but then so flippin' sweet. Such a rollercoaster. We've had many a tantrums in public places lately. So much fun and not embarrassing at all.
-Loves books, coloring, play dough, singing "Twinkle Twinkle", "Teach Me To Walk", and the ABC's song
-Plays pretend all the time and always makes us "dinner".
-Runs so fast now that we have to run to catch her.
-Prays and thanks Heavenly Father for the snow. Haha. It is pretty funny.
-Talks non stop.
-Loves to cuddle and sit super close. Even if there are many places to sit in the room, she will sit right next to me.
I don't have her stats from the last doc appointment but I remember her weight is 75% and her head and height is 95%.
